Founded in 2013 on Madison Avenue in Midtown Manhattan and now based in Emerson, New Jersey, ShechterCare® is a specialized rehabilitation practice dedicated to breast cancer recovery and lymphedema management. Our mission is simple: deliver expert, compassionate care that restores function and improves quality of life at every stage of healing.

Cynthia Shechter, MA, OTR/L, CLT-UE, IORE, CIMT, CORE Certified
Cynthia Shechter is the founder and director of rehabilitation at ShechterCare®. She earned her master’s degree in occupational therapy from New York University and has dedicated her career to breast cancer rehabilitation and lymphedema management. Her work blends clinical precision with deeply personalized care.
Educator and Patient Advocate
Cynthia is a respected educator and speaker on breast cancer rehabilitation and lymphedema care. She regularly lectures for support groups, community organizations, and physician networks. Education is central to her philosophy—empowering patients with the knowledge and tools to confidently manage recovery and long-term wellness.

Treatment at ShechterCare® is never one-size-fits-all. Cynthia designs individualized care plans based on each patient’s needs, lifestyle, and goals. She understands that recovery is not linear and addresses healing of the body, mind, and spirit with thoughtful, adaptable strategies.
Advancing Medical Awareness
Cynthia actively promotes greater awareness of post-surgical rehabilitation within the medical community. She has served as an expert for the LE&RN Ask the Experts program since its inception, providing guidance to more than 100 members.
